Every beauty fanatic or those of us that just need to look presentable can use this easy kit. I suffer from dark circles so I have tried just about every concealer out there. I liked that the Goege Professional Concealer Camouflage Foundation Makeup Palette Contour Face Contouring Kit came with several different shades to make it customizable. For the truly adventurous you can even try some contouring with the darker shades, (but that’s a “special occasion” event for me.) I have never had much success with the green and pink shades – I remember seeing those shades in some old school makeup tricks, but I didn’t give those a try this time. It does come with two makeup applicators that are not really useful (too flimsy) and I find blending with a sponge or my fingers to do the best job.
The products didn’t annoy my sensitive skin and went on smoothly. I do wish that there were more variety in the shades, but for a first timers I think this is a good kit to try out that won’t break the bank.
Summer vacation involves a lot of outdoor activities and I have been spending a lot of time at the beach, county fair, and the pool and my skin has suffered for it. I pledge to be more vigilant with the sunscreen, but in the mean time I need to pamper my face with a little more than soap and water. Everyone knows you need to moisturize which I do every evening (less vigilant in the a.m.) but I have heard a lot about serums which are said to give your skin an extra boost. I tried Hyaluronic Acid With Vitamin C Serum Anti-Aging Best Serum For Your Face from CSCS. This serum is said to be “rich in antioxidants, UV protection and moisturizing nutrients.” Continue reading
One of my least favorite parts of summer is a hot car or in my case mini-van. It gets mighty warm here in Suburgatory and I try to park in shaded areas whenever possible, of course so does everyone else, thus a car shade is a must. My current shade still has a lot of life in it, but since I’ve transitioned from my smaller vehicle into the mom mobile it’s a little too small for the bigger windshield.
One of the things that caught my attention about the AlphaShade Care Windshield Sunshade is that it claims to offer protection from 99% UV Rays, which I have never seen before on a simple car shade.
What I liked best about it that it is one piece and that it comes with its own storage sleeve.
It pops out and sets in the windshield easily. I liked the addition of extra material on the four corners (something my previous shade doesn’t have) increases the coverage without adding bulk. However, it took a bit of maneuvering to get it to stay. I do wish they made a bigger version that would fit all the way across my windshield. Nonetheless it does its job and the van wasn’t overly hot when I came back from my errands.
The Naked iPhone 6 case cover may be naked but its got your precious covered (i.e. your new iPhone). I liked that it’s clear case lets the iPhone’s design sign through and while the it is super thin it’s still giving 100% protection. All the control buttons (volume, on/off) are easily accessible as is the charging and headphone sockets. It’s easy to put on and very sturdy (because of course I dropped it soon after and it survived unscathed). I also like that the front screen is protected from scratches or smudges, especially handy if you let your kid play a game (they have the stickiest fingers). Definitely checkout if you like a minimal look.
Twentysomething Kat Reid is loving life as an in-demand Hollywood makeup artist. She has absolutely no interest in rock ’n’ roll, but in order to pay the mortgage, she agrees to work on the set of a rock video for the world-famous rockers known as Bad Habit…which brings her face-to-face with Nico Nyx, lead singer of Bad Habit and Adonis in the flesh.
However, the fiercely independent Kat isn’t impressed by the hard-living, womanizing rock star. But when Nico’s model girlfriend shows up to the set drunk and Kat is tapped to replace her as the video’s sexy bride, her combustible chemistry with Nico suddenly threatens to consume the set. Nico feels it, too—and becomes determined to win Kat over, body and soul. Yet behind his rock god swagger, Nico Continue reading
I like tea and my family likes me to be in a good mood so The Good Mood Tea is just what the doc ordered. Yesterday was a crazy day (why is summer vacation so much more stressful than the rest of the year? See small children and SpongeBob: A Sponge Out of Water on continuous loop) and I was in need of refreshment and sanity so I brewed up a cuppa of Good Mood . Good Mood is a blend of organic cacao nibs, which are peeled and broken cocoa beans, the raw material of chocolate. They contain a natural mood enhancer called theobromine (YES) and create the pleasant aftertaste of dark chocolate. There’s also hits of citrus, orange peel and lemongrass, I believe. I only brewed mine for 5 minutes and it wasn’t bitter but full-bodied. I poured mine over ice and added a bit of stevia. I first tried it without stevia, but it was a little strong for me so I added a little more water and a sweetener = perfect. I am trying to get away from drinking sodas and I liked that this had a robust flavor that was customizable and healthy to boot. I will definitely be trying out the rest of Culinary Teas flavors (Cape Code Iced sounds awesome).
All that clinking and clanking that you see pros do as they sharpen their tools intimidates me and thus I don’t sharpen my kitchen knives as often as I should, so I was very excited to try The Knife Sharpening System as this seems like an easy to use gadget. My DH is an avid outdoorsman and knows the value of a sharp knife and I was very excited for him to try it too.
The set up is as easy as can be; just plop it on your countertop and let the suction cups hold it in place. Big thumbs up to the compact size. It can easily fit in any kitchen drawer. I like that there were both coarse and fine grinding wheels.
According to package directions a recommended 3-5 passes is all it should take on the course setting and then fine tuning on the finer grade. I did not find that to be the case. I never got a sharp edge after following directions and numerous passes. I used a stainless steel knife, perhaps this is better suited for ceramic. At any rate it didn’t produce the results I was looking for.
